Ever heard of 'Quantum Computing' and wondered what the hype is all about? Beyond the buzzwords lies a radical shift in how we process information, moving away from the rigid rules of classical computers into a realm where the impossible becomes possible. 

Quantum Computing stems from the principles of quantum mechanics, and essentially means using quantum systems as the units of information or qubits, different from

their classical counterparts, the bits. Because they are quantum, a lot of possibilities are unlocked that leverage the properties of superposition and interference. This makes Quantum Computing a promising avenue for emerging technologies across all domains. 

In this talk, we will dive into what makes quantum revolutionary and what makes it challenging.

SPEAKER

Miriam Lucio Martinez specializes in High Energy Physics (HEP) and Quantum Computing (QC), with a focus on the search for physics Beyond the Standard Model (BSM). She is a Ramón y Cajal Research Fellow and Principal Investigator at the University of Valencia and the Institute of Corpuscular Physics (IFIC). Her work in QC centers on finding applications for HEP, with particular attention to experiments at the Large Hadron Collider. As a member of the LHCb collaboration, she also works on data analysis for BSM models and track reconstruction, and serves on the collaboration’s Editorial Board.
