The Despertà | Valencia’s Most Explosive Wake-Up Call
About this event
Despertà - A thundering, electrifying parade of popping firecrackers and upbeat marching band music. This is how Valencia wakes up during Fallas.
Experience the true alarm clock"of Valencia. During the peak days of Fallas, the city doesn't wake up to birds chirping—it wakes up to the Despertà. At 8:00 AM sharp, local neighbourhood committees (fallas) take to the streets with brass bands and thousands of loud firecrackers to ensure nobody misses a single minute of the festival.
After the noise settles, join the locals for a traditional Fallero breakfast. While members head to their private tents, the entire city is filled with the smell of fresh buñuelos de calabaza (pumpkin fritters) and thick hot chocolate, available at street stalls and local bakeries. It’s the ultimate way to start your festival morning like a true Valencian.
