Explore Ruzafa | Saint Francis Borgia to the Vibrant Market
The San Francisco de Borja Parish offers a guided cultural tour that blends the history of one of Valencia’s most iconic saints with the vibrant evolution of the Ruzafa neighborhood.
This guided experience is led by an expert and covers several historical landmarks:
- Parish Church of San Francisco de Borja: The tour begins inside this temple, which was designed by architect Luis Albert Ballesteros and inaugurated in 1961. You will learn about the life of Saint Francis Borgia, the prominent Valencian figure for whom the church is named.
- Ruzafa Neighborhood Stroll: A walk through the district's centuries-old streets to soak in its unique atmosphere.
- Church of San Valero and San Vicente Mártir: You will stop to admire the impressive façade of this historic building.
- Ruzafa Market: The tour concludes at this modernist hub, which remains a central point of local life and activity.
- When: Every Monday at 10:00 AM (running from June 16, 2025, to December 16, 2026).
- Language: The tour is conducted in Spanish.

- Reservations: Advance booking is required via email at visitas@parroquiasanfranciscodeborjavalencia.com with a minimum of five adults. Payment is collected in cash on the day of the tour.
To get to Calle Cuba, 53 in Ruzafa:
- Metro: Take Line 10 to the Ruzafa station. It’s the closest stop, just a 5-minute walk away. Alternatively, use the Xàtiva or Alacant stations near the main train station (about a 10-12 minute walk).
- Bus (EMT): Lines 7, 8, 19, and 93 have stops nearby. Look for stops named "Sueca - Puerto Rico" or "Mercat de Russafa."
- Walking: From the city centre (Plaza del Ayuntamiento), it is a straightforward 15-minute walk heading south past the Estación del Norte.
- Bike: There are several Valenbisi stations surrounding the Ruzafa Market, just a couple of blocks from the parish.
