Experience the climax of Valencia’s historical celebrations. For one week in October, the city travels back to the Middle Ages with a packed schedule of parades, theatrical battles, and a massive riverbed market.
The Medieval Market
2–13 October | Turia Gardens
The old riverbed between the Exhibition Bridge and the Flower Bridge becomes a bustling historical camp. Wander through artisan stalls, grab some traditional gastronomy, and enjoy live period shows with family and friends.
The Main Events
Friday, 2 October
- The Kick-off (8:00 PM): Watch the two sides make their first festive entrance through the heart of the historic centre, parading from Plaza de la Virgen through Calle Caballeros.
Saturday, 3 October
- Children’s Parade (5:00 PM): See the youngest participants show off their miniature squads and colourful costumes as they march to the Serranos Towers.
- The Embassies (8:30 PM): Head to Plaça dels Furs for a dramatic theatrical reenactment of the city's surrender, set against the backdrop of the ancient city gates.
Sunday, 4 October
- Offering and Gunpowder (10:30 AM): Following a floral offering at Plaza de la Reina, the atmosphere changes as the Moors and Christians fill Plaza del Ayuntamiento with the powerful roar of traditional muskets.
Friday, 9 October – The Grand Entry
- The Final Spectacle (5:00 PM): This is the big one! To celebrate Valencian Community Day, thousands of participants march in an explosion of colour and music. The parade starts at La Glorieta and winds through Calle de la Paz and Calle San Vicente. Expect incredible brass bands, majestic horses, and the finest costumes in Spain.
Pro-Tip: If you want the best view for the Grand Entry on 9 October, try to grab a spot along Calle de la Paz early in the afternoon!
