Ofrenda de Flores | Valencia’s Most Iconic Tradition
About this event
The Floral Offering: Valencia’s Most Iconic Tradition
Ofrenda de Flores is the emotional heartbeat of the Fallas festival. Over two incredible days, more than 100,000 falleros and falleras dressed in stunning 18th-century traditional silks process through the streets of Valencia to pay tribute to the city's patron saint, the Virgen de los Desamparados (Our Lady of the Forsaken).
Witness a sea of colour and tradition as thousands of bouquets are used to hand-weave a massive, 15-metre tall floral mantle. The intricate design of the gown is a closely guarded secret every year, only revealed as the "Vestidors" (volunteers) climb the wooden structure to place each flower by hand.
What to Expect:
- The Spectacle: A non-stop parade of local commissions accompanied by live marching bands and the scent of 17 tonnes of fresh carnations.
- The Emotion: It is a deeply moving pilgrimage; watch for the falleras moved to tears as they finally reach the Basilica.
- The Costumes: The best opportunity to see the world-famous Valencian traditional dress, featuring intricate embroidery and handmade jewellery.
- The Grand Finale: The parade concludes on the night of the 18th when the Fallera Mayor of Valencia makes the final offering, completing the Virgin's gown.

Top Viewing Routes:
The committees follow two main paths into the square. To see the best of the parade, find a spot along:
- Route 1: Calle de la Paz → Calle Avellanas → Plaza de la Virgen.
- Route 2: Calle de Quart → Calle de Caballeros → Plaza de la Virgen.
Pro-Tip: For the best photos of the completed floral mantle without the massive crowds, visit the Plaza de la Virgen on the morning of March 19th.
How to get to the Ofrenda (Travel Guide)
Because the city centre is closed to traffic for the parades, reaching Plaza de la Virgen requires some planning:
- By Metro (Recommended):
- Colón Station (Lines 3, 5, 7, 9): This is the best hub. It is a 10-minute walk from the station to the viewing areas on Calle de la Paz.
- Pont de Fusta (Line 4 Tram): A 7-minute walk. Cross the river towards the Serranos Towers to access the northern side of the square.
- Xàtiva Station (Lines 3, 5, 9): Near the main train station. A 15-minute walk through the town hall square (Plaza del Ayuntamiento).
- By Bus:
- Diverted Routes: Almost all central lines (4, 6, 11, 31, 70, 81) will stop at the "inner ring" (Porta de la Mar or Calle Colón) rather than entering the historic centre.
- Best Stop: Get off at Porta de la Mar and walk up Calle de la Paz to see the flower-bearers pass by.
- On Foot:
- The best way to experience the atmosphere is to walk along the two main routes: Calle de la Paz (coming from the East) and Calle de Quart/Caballeros (coming from the West).
Important Note for Visitors:
The Plaza de la Virgen becomes a "one-way" zone strictly for the falleros. If you want to see the Virgin's mantle up close without the 1 AM crowds, come back on the morning of March 19th. The design will be finished, the square is quieter, and the smell of 17 tonnes of fresh flowers is incredible.
