Design and Craft a Raffia Bag | HANDMADE®

The creators of The Espadrilles Experience, a must-do according to the New York Times, are now launching their experiences in Valencia, including The Raffia Bag Workshop, in which you will sit one on one with our artisans and will customize a raffia palm bag which you will keep afterwards as the most amazing souvenir.

We will meet at our family-owned workshop, where you can see the finished products and the materials. The artisan will be with you at all times leading and providing the materials, explanations and tools.

First, we will introduce you to the story of these bags and the materials and different tools needed for the construction of different pieces. You will learn about this beautiful tradition, and you will choose the size of the bag, the colors for the wording and the colors and shape for the handles.

It will be fun, hands-on, personal, and you will have customized your own piece by the end of it. We always keep small groups of 4-6, so it will be a very personalized session. The perfect experience for families, groups and of course couples... a beautiful way to bond, share and do something local.

Finally, each guest will leave with its own creation and with a really cool story to tell to friends, a wearable memory from Valencia, and a new skill learnt!

Travel: How to Get There

The workshop is located in the absolute heart of the city, right next to the Cathedral and the Miguelete Tower:

• By Metro: Take Line 3, 5, or 9 to Xàtiva or Colón stations. From there, it is a scenic 10-minute walk through the historic centre.
• By Bus: Numerous lines stop at Plaça de la Reina, including 4, 6, 11, 26, 31, 32, 70, and 81. The workshop is just steps away from the bus stop.
• On Foot: If you are already in the Old Town (Ciutat Vella), simply head towards the Valencia Cathedral; the workshop is located directly on the main square.
