About this event

Tortoise Live at Sala Moon: The Return of the Post-Rock Pioneers

Ten years since their last visit to Valencia, the legendary Chicago quintet Tortoise returns to the stage. Featuring the iconic line-up of Jeff Parker, Dan Bitney, Douglas McCombs, John Herndon, and John McEntire, this concert is a rare opportunity to witness one of the most influential bands of the last 40 years in an intimate setting.

Presented with the Primavera Sound seal of approval, this tour follows the late 2025 release of their eighth studio album, Touch—their first new music in nearly a decade.

The Sound: What Kind of Music Do They Play?

Tortoise are the ultimate "thousand bands in one." They are credited with paving the way for the Post-Rock genre, but their sound is a brilliant, experimental puzzle. Expect a mesmerising blend of:

  • Krautrock & Indie Rock: Hypnotic, driving rhythms.
  • Avant-Garde Jazz: Intricate, soulful improvisation.
  • Electronic & Dub: Deep baselines and atmospheric textures.
  • Experimental Instrumental: A performance where the instruments tell the story, shifting between grandeur and non-conformist energy.
