About this event

A truly unforgettable adventure to the summit of Mount Toubkal (4,167m) — the highest peak in North Africa. Experience the Atlas Mountains
Join us for an unforgettable long-weekend adventure to the summit of Mount Toubkal (4,167m) — the highest mountain in North Africa and one of the most achievable 4,000m peaks in the world.
This is a unique Expedition Costa Blanca itinerary, created to be more enjoyable and better paced than the typical “rush in, rush out” Toubkal tours. Instead of pushing straight into the mountains on arrival, we’ll take a more relaxed approach:
A Better Way to Climb Toubkal
We arrive in Marrakech around 19:15 and travel to the peaceful mountain village of Imlil, where we can unwind, settle in, and enjoy a proper night’s rest. This simple change makes a huge difference — you begin Day 1 refreshed and ready for the adventure.
Our first trekking day takes us through the High Atlas valleys, past waterfalls and mountain shrines, eventually reaching the Toubkal Refuge beneath the summit. After dinner, we prepare for the big day ahead.
Summit Day
Summit day is a big mountain day, with approximately 18km of hiking and around 900m of elevation gain on the ascent to 4,167m. The route is non-technical but demanding, especially with the full descent back to the valley.
We begin early to make the most of the morning conditions, climbing steadily to the summit of Mount Toubkal, where the views across the Atlas Mountains are unforgettable.
After celebrating at the top, we descend all the way back to Imlil. This long descent is where the fitness preparation pays off — it’s a full, rewarding day on the legs.

The key difference with our itinerary is what comes next: instead of immediately travelling back to the airport, we stay for one final night in Imlil. This gives everyone the chance to shower, eat, rest, relax, and enjoy the evening together after a huge achievement.
The following morning, after a relaxed breakfast, we travel to Marrakech Airport for the return flight home.
Fitness Requirements
Mount Toubkal is considered one of the easier 4,000m peaks, with no technical climbing involved.
However, this itinerary includes a long descent from the summit back to Imlil, so an intermediate fitness level is required.

In the weeks leading up to the trip, we’ll run several fitness preparation events that simulate the effort and elevation of the big day. These sessions will help everyone feel confident, ready, and fully prepared for the challenge.
Accommodation

On this trip we’ll experience two very different styles of mountain accommodation:

🏡 Riad in Imlil
A traditional Moroccan guesthouse with warm hospitality, comfortable rooms, hot showers, and great food. This is where we’ll stay before and after the summit day — the perfect place to rest, relax, and prepare.

🏔 Refugio (Toubkal Base Camp)
Simple, communal mountain accommodation used by climbers heading for the summit. Expect dorm-style rooms, shared facilities, hearty meals, and a lively mountaineering atmosphere. It’s basic but comfortable — exactly what you need before the big day.

  • Trip Overview

Day 1 – Arrive in Marrakech → Travel to Imlil

  • We land in Marrakech around 19:15, meet our local partner, and transfer straight to the mountain village of Imlil, the gateway to the Atlas Mountains. Here we check in, have dinner, and settle in for a good night’s sleep before the adventure begins.

Day 2 – Imlil → Chamharouch → Toubkal Base Camp

  • After breakfast we set off through valleys, mule paths, and small shrines as we ascend steadily toward Toubkal Base Camp. The pace is relaxed and steady to help everyone acclimatise. We spend the night at the refuge, rest up, and prepare for summit day.

Day 3 – Base Camp → Summit of Toubkal → All the Way Back to Imlil

  • Summit day is a big one: roughly 18km and 900m of elevation gain up to 4,167m, with a long descent afterwards. The terrain is non-technical but demanding, especially at altitude.
  • We start early and climb gradually to the summit, where the views across the High Atlas are simply unforgettable. After taking in the moment, we descend all the way back to Imlil — a tough but incredibly rewarding day.
  • The key difference in our itinerary is what happens next: we don’t rush to the airport. Instead, we spend one final night in Imlil, giving everyone time to shower, relax, enjoy a proper dinner, and celebrate the achievement together.

Day 4 – Imlil → Marrakech Airport

  • After a relaxed morning and breakfast, we transfer back to Marrakech Airport for our flights home.
