S.M. La Reina Trophy 2026: Watch Valencia’s Grand Sailing Event for Free
The XXVII Trofeo S.M. La Reina (the 27th edition of the Queen's Trophy) is one of the most prestigious sailing events in the Mediterranean. For 2026, the regatta is set to be a record-breaking spectacle with over 140 boats and elite international crews competing in the waters off Valencia.
Event Overview
- Dates: 26 June – 5 July 2026.
- Location: Real Club Náutico de Valencia (RCNV) and the southern beaches (Pinedo and El Saler).
- Cost: Free for public viewing from the shore.
- Significance: A major international regatta that doubles as a qualifying event for the Mediterranean Sailing Circuit.
The regatta officially runs from 26 June to 5 July, but these are the four key dates for spectators:
- Friday, 26 June: The Grand Departure
Watch the fleet set sail for the grueling 220-mile Offshore Race. The best spot to see the boats up close is at La Marina de Valencia as they depart the docks in the morning. - Friday, 3 July – Sunday, 5 July: The Final Sprints
This is the peak of the competition! High-speed, tactical "Inshore" races happen close to the coast. This is the best time for beach-goers to see the "wall of sails" from the sand.
This 10-day maritime festival combines high-stakes competition with a vibrant social atmosphere.
- Elite Competition: The fleet includes high-performance classes like the Swan 42 and J99, alongside monototypes like the J80.
- Offshore Challenge (26–28 June): The event kicks off with a demanding 220-mile Offshore ORC race.
- Inshore Sprints (3–5 July): The action moves closer to shore for tactical windward-leeward races, providing a "colourful display of sails" visible from the beaches.
- Lifestyle & Leisure: Visitors can enjoy the atmosphere at the La Marina de Valencia, watch the boats dock, or dine at the host club’s terrace.
- Best Views: For the closest views of the tactical maneuvers, head to Playa de Pinedo or Playa de El Saler during the inshore races in early July.
- Official Hub: The Real Club Náutico de Valencia serves as the main base for the sailors and the heart of the event's social life.
- Further Details: For live results and specific class schedules, check the Official Event Website.
